SimplyHealth is a health insurance company which has been in the insurance market for more than 140 years. However, SimplyHealth is a quite recent name. Group of companies, formerly known as Medisure, HSA, BCWA, HealthSure, LHF, Totally Active and Remedi has joined forces over the years to form Simplyhealth, which is now an important player in health insurance market.  Company is the biggest cash plans provider in UK and offers to its clients such options as Simply private health, cash plan, cash plan 70 plus and dental plan.

Simply private health

Simply private health is a health insurance plan. There are 4 possible levels of cover: core cover, Choice 1, Choice 2 and Choice 3. Core cover is designed for coverage of consultations’ and diagnostics’ fees. Choice 1 can also be called as Surgery plan as it provides coverage mostly for treatment and tests related to when the person needs to have a surgery (surgery fees,  hospital charges for surgical procedures, diagnostic tests for acute conditions that are treated by a surgery, post-operative consultations and so on).

Choice 2 cover costs of out-patient complementary therapies: physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, acupuncture and homeopathy. Choice 3 is designed for treatment of heart problems and cancer. Heart benefit is up to £50,000 during the span of the policy and includes such things as surgery (open heart surgery is included), drugs, routine clinical care and post treatment care. Moreover, follow-up consultations are also covered for two years after operation takes place.

Cancer benefit is also up to £50,000 during the span of the policy. It includes coverage for the treatment in these areas: surgery, radiography, chemotherapy, oncology, care after treatment and various drugs. Follow-up consultations are covered for five years.

Exclusions

First of all, all claims must be arranged with SimplyHealth’s helpline and authorised by it. Besides, it is important to know that there is a compulsory excess of £100 per year for every person named on the policy contract.

Core cover will not cover consultations when diagnosis is made. It will also not provide cover for in- and day-patient consultations and diagnostic tests, psychiatric consultations and routine consultations and monitoring. Choice 1 option will not cover treatment when condition does not require surgery, surgical procedures for heart and cancer conditions (they are covered under Choice 3 plan) and surgeries for chronic conditions. Choice 2 will not cover chronic condition, post-operative physiotherapy treatment and in-patient therapies. Choice 3 will not cover drugs that are under trial or maintenance and long-lasting therapies when condition is stable, keeps up in remission or if it cannot be achieved.

Simply cash plan and simply cash plan 70 plus

Simply cash plan starts from £10.85 a month and provides cover for such medical services as optical tests, x-rays, incidental hospital in-patient stays and more. Moreover, cover for up to 4 children under the age of 18 is included in this cash plan. This cover is provided for people between 18 and 69 years. However, if the person is older than 69  years he can select so called  cash plan 70 plus. There are 3 levels of cover available as well as 24 hour a day helpline.

Simply dental plan

This plan starts from less than £8 per month  and cover is provided for such services as fillings, crowns and bridges, emergency care,  scale and polish (75% refund) and  £5,000 benefit if the person is diagnosed with a primary mouth cancer. However, it is important to remember that cover for dental treatment, accident and emergency as well as benefit for mouth cancer are available only after 3 months have passed from the start of the policy.
